Vanguard reports that a sourc within the presidency claimed that shortly after Daura was dismissed by acting president, Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday, August 7, he was whisked away by police officers.

The source said he was taken to one of the Presidential Guest houses within Aso Rock where he is being held. The source said: “He will remain there until several investigation over certain issues bordering on him are concluded.” It was reported that even his aides were not aware of where he was taken to after his meeting with the acting president as he was taken through another route to where he is being kept. Meanwhile, Security operatives have reportedly lifted the siege on the National Assembly. The lift came barely an hour after the announcement of the sack of the director general of the State Security Service (SSS), Lawal Daura. Premium Times reports that the mask-wearing officers, mainly of the SSS, who blocked entrance to the National Assembly from early hours of Tuesday, August 7, left the assembly gate at about 2:49pm. Premium Times reports that the senators who left the assembly complex earlier, were mainly of the opposition party, PDP.

Meanwhile, had reported that the acting President Yemi Osinbajo sacked Lawal Daura, the director-general of the Department of State Services. A statement by Laolu Akande, his spokesperson, said: “The acting president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), has directed the termination of the appointment of the director general, State Security Service, Lawal Musa Daura, with immediate effect. “Mr. Daura has been directed to hand over to the most senior officer of the State Security Service until further notice
